Welcome to Rutland Middle School! As we begin another school year, we are excited to welcome our returning students and families, and to extend a warm welcome to those who are joining our community for the first time.

The start of a new school year is always a time of possibility. It brings fresh energy, new connections, and opportunities for students to grow—academically, socially, and personally. Middle school is a unique and important stage, and at RMS we are deeply committed to supporting students as they discover their strengths, build confidence, and find their voice.

We encourage families to take time early in the year to talk with their children about the goals they hope to achieve. Whether those goals relate to learning, friendships, leadership, extracurricular involvement, or personal wellbeing, having clear intentions helps students stay focused and motivated. Revisiting these goals throughout the year sends a powerful message: that growth takes time, effort, and support, and that their aspirations truly matter.

At Rutland Middle, we believe that strong partnerships between school and home are essential. Families are invited to be active participants in our community—through the Parent Advisory Council, volunteering, school events, or simply by staying connected and engaged. Open communication and shared responsibility allow us to better support every learner.

Above all, RMS is a place where relationships matter, diversity is valued, and students are encouraged to take positive risks in a supportive environment. Guided by our belief that every voice is valued and every Raptor soars, we look forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and pride in our school community.

We are grateful to live, learn, and work on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Syilx/Okanagan people, and we honour their ongoing connection to this land.

We look forward to the journey ahead and wish every student and family a successful and rewarding school year.
